382 stroker 350.
350 stroker based on '68-'76 block
Changed this thread to ask about 350 strokers based on the regular, pre '77 350 blocks (not the DX). Have any of you run a combo like this?? I have a spare 350 ('68 block) of unknown rebuild, that I may be interested in doing this with. Just want a mild, high torque sleeper that looks like a 350.

That would be max bore and the Honda rod with a 330 forged crank. Cutlassefi 4" stroker crank is way stronger with similar weight to the factory crank. And will be much easier to balance. I used the nice Mahle forged pistons, Molnar rods Cutlassefi brought to the market and a 330 crank I had sitting for years. I spent the money internally balancing it, $$$, with machine wasn't far off his stroker crank. Only 358 cubic inches, just a 4.100" bore. I should have flung the 60 year old crank in the bush or used it in my 403. Spend the money for the extra cubic inches and strength with Mark's package. Even with your factory heads, 400 HP and 500 ft-lbs is the the minimum. Good luck.
I'm not trying to put a pin in your ideas but just because you can or have this and that laying around doesn't mean you should.
My 1971 375-ish cubic inch Bill Travato stroker is smooth and powerful at all rpm's; perfect for a driven car. Its generally factory-appearing with original intake, #7 heads (some work done on the inside), and exhaust manifolds.
This '68 350 has 1972 "7" heads on it. So I could have a similar combo built.
Getting the right engine builder is job one. Some of us, including myself. Had bad builder, I was lucky that I did not run engine. But checked the basics. Engine would not turn easily. Started pulling off the main caps and heads. Look at the oil galleries. Pistons were installed correctly. Galleries were never cleaned. Gallerie plug in the rear was the wrong size and was just put in with some silicone. And the turned crankshaft had burrs digging into the main bearings. And was not a N crankshaft I asked for. For the horsepower I was going for. Clean and replaced the bearing and had a N crank. That I had polished by a local guy. Who did a great job. Added arp main bolts. Been running great for years.
