Hi

i am trying to narrow down some problems and am wondering whether a 394 distributor will work on my 59 371? This 371 is the transition motor as they migrated to 394. Any help is appreciated.

 

Have you looked at the "sticky" in the "Tech Editor's Desk"; in particular: Thru 1975 - Oldsmobile Chassis and Body Parts Catalog, Group 2.361, Distributor Assembly? The replacement distributor shown in that catalog for all 1959 thru 1964 V8 (exc. F85 & J88) is p/n 1110968. If your vehicle falls within those parameters I would say that the distributors are the same. Charlie Jones may have more info available.
