68 Cutlass day-two throttle cable solution

Anybody have a good solution on how to un-funk this garbage? I’m not looking for a factory look or some fancy billet hot rod thing, just something better that doesn’t look like it will fail and stick wide open.

Maybe this I suppose? $27 from Amazon, gotta love it. It says it’s for a Holley 4150. Carbs a 9379 from ‘87. I’ll be ordering a carb kit too.

I would start with a new cable as the tabs are broke on yours. There are lots of options on Summit or Jegs depending on your budget.

I'm assuming the question is sarcasm, but just in case... That is someone's idea of reinforcement to keep the cable mounting bracket from twisting because it only has 1 mounting point.

You are correct. That’s what prompted the question.

There’s a lot of hokey and janky things on an amateur drag car like this.
