Carb Questions 1964' Olds Cutlass

I browsed through many post but didnt have much luck, so ill give this a shot here.

Will a 1964 Olds 4 jet Carb (off orignal 330) install and work fine, with proper tuning, on a 1970 Olds 350 with intake manifold 404520? Engine is a 1970 Olds 350. I would love to use original 64' 4 barrel air cleaner assembly,( is the goal here) im aware that in 65'ish, the change over to the quadrajet lead to bigger carb neck is my understanding. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again to the Olds Community, you've been such a big help over the years. Happy Holidays everyone. Safe travels.

Not without an adapter. The 1964-5 engine 4GC is a square-bore carb, 4 equal size bores. The 1970 intake uses the spread-bore QuadraJet.

However, if you're set on using the 4GC, the 64-5 330 intake bolts right onto a 350.

This clears alot up

"The 1964-5 engine 4GC is a square-bore carb, 4 equal size bores. The 1970 intake uses the spread-bore QuadraJet"

Thanks for the info! That makes things alot more clear on my end. Im gonna stick with this 404520 manifold. Does anyone have a particular quadrajet # i might wanna look out for to mount on this 70' olds intake manifold? ( 1970 Olds 350, flat tops, mild cam, rebuilt #7 Olds heads) Would there be any suggestions on how, if even possible, that this quadrajet could except the stock air cleaner assembly? Im assuming the only way is bottom pan to be modified or do they make a bottom pan with bigger opening to except later style quadrajet while still maintaining top pan\lid for oem look? Trying to keep a nice oem look under hood, not interested in aftermarket parts\add -ons, at least trying to stay outta that avenue. Sorry for all the darn questions everybody, learning new things everytime i dive into the forum, appreciate everyone's time, thanks again.

What are the cam specs? A factory 1970 350 4 speed carb might be close. If one can't be found or your cam is radically different, find a good 76 to 80 800 cfm Qjet to send to a known builder or do it yourself with a guide like Cliff Ruggles book and quality rebuild parts. Good luck.

Why not use the air cleaner that fits the Quadrajet and use a 1964 air cleaner sticker ?

Cam specs

Cam is xe268h - speed pro forged flat tops,

So it sounds like i need to hunt down a good quadrajet, any one paticular quadrajet part # i should be on the hunt for? This will be setting on that 70' Olds 404520 intake.

Still learning all the tangibles here on what will and what wont work regarding trying to keep\modify original 64' air cleaner assembly, Would the 65' 66' olds cutlass air cleaner except late style quadrajet im assuming? They prolly changed the look of them quite a bit im guessing?
Thanks again everyone, really appreciate all the help!!

'66-7 air cleaners are either chrome enclosed element single snorkel (automatic cars) or open element (manual). Either will fit a QJ on your car and might be a good look.

Olds aircleaners thru 1967 had a base pan that sat on the carb and located the filter element. The top part was like an inverted frying pan that covered the element and sealed to the base pan. Bass-ackwards from 68-later if that helps you picture it.

Try finding a 66-67 4 barrel base pan. It will accommodate the QuadraJet air horn. Then if you're lucky the 64 330 top piece will mate up to the 66-7 base, but I think it's smaller diameter. In that case use the 66-7 top. No one but a true Oldsmobile enthusiast would notice.😈

Do they make a step down adapter to mate a Quadrajet to a 4GC air cleaner?
I thought they did?

Long long time ago. I had one on a small diameter chrome open element aircleaner like you'd have found at a chain parts store. The chrome trinket had to have it to fit the QuadraJet.

IDK if they're still available or not. If they are that's a possible solution.

That cam has 10 to 15 degrees duration more than the factory 350 4 speed motor. I would get a 76 to 80 800 cfm custom tuned. You gain the extra cfm, improved for durability and an easier to fine tune carb vs the earlier carbs.
