what factory intake manifold can i use on a 330ci?
Hello oldsmobile techs. I have a1967 cutlass 330ci with an edlebrock intake manifold and a holly 600. I want to replace the edlebrock manifold with a stock intake from a later year and keep the holly 600. My question is what years can i get one that would work on my 330ci? I was thinking like a 1975 or a 1979. But im not possitive. My reason for wanting to do this is because I was told my car is using so much gas might be because of the intake manifold. Anone have any input?

Well, there could be several things affecting your gas mileage. From your driving habits to the condition of the carb. Can you tell us more about the condition of your engine? Gear ratio of the rear end? How new is the carb? Have you ever had someone who's really good at it adjust your carb?
Typically Holly carburetors are square bore carbs. All four holes going into the intake are the same size. The Rochester Quadrajet is a spread bore, the primary two barrels are small and the secondary's are huge. If you have a square bore Holly you'd need to get an earlier intake, like a 1964-65 that used the Rochester 4 jet carb. They were a square bore carb. From 1966 and newer used the spread bore style carbs.

IMHO, changing the manifold is not going improve your fuel economy.
X2 on wanting to know your setup, trans, gears, is the engine stock, what distributor, what size tires, and your tune up settings?

thank you for all your input on this 2blue442my holly carb was rebuilt off the car. I need to take it back to have it adjusted. My driving habits are not bad. I try to cruise my 67 not smash it. But you are right about my holly. The holes are all the same size. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I thimk im going to start with having the carb adjusted first

Mr 2blue442 I have my stock intake but its for a 2bbl.. the original carb needed to be rebuilt. I was thinking about putting it back on because of my bad gas milage with my holly 4 bbl. I think i get like 10 miles per gallon. Is that bad or normal for the holly edlebrock se up?

Which Edelbrock intake do you have? If its an RPM that very well could be your mileage issue. A standard Performer does much better for fuel mileage. Also Holley's are not known for economy. A Q-Jet is best thing going in that department.

Second, I can guarantee that the gas consumption problem is NOT the fault of the intake (unless it is leaking or cracked, in which case the car would run like crap).
Keep the Ebrock intake, ditch the Holley. Get a properly rebuilt Qjet. Second choice would be an Ebrock carb.

I agree with all the above.
The intake manifold itself would not cause the mileage issues. I saw no difference in mileage between the factory intake manifold and an Edelbrock Performer 350 intake manifold; HOWEVER, the mileage dropped significantly when I swapped out the factory QuadraJet carb for a Holley 600 vacuum secondary carb (0-1850). After a couple months with the Holley, I put the QJet back on and the mileage went back up while the performance stayed the same.

Paulie, I agree with all the above.
Unless you want the factory look with
an intake, a Rochester will be your best
bet. I have always liked them.
The shipping on a cast iron intake would
be a bee-otch too.

The intake is not your problem and the Holley will not bolt onto any stock manifold without some sort of adapter plate, as far as Holley's being hard on fuel it depends on which Holley you have, some have much better idle circuits than others.
Just to know what are you calling bad milage?
