weres the timing mark on a 307 block?

my car is backfiring through the carb so i bulled the distrubtor and rolled the motor over 180 degrees and restabed it. its still doing the same thing. can anyone show me a pic of the timing mark on a 307?

You need to find TDC on #1 cylinder and wire it from there. I believe just like other engines the tab is on the timing cover, unless yours has been removed.

i found tdc and wired it from there. is it just like a chevy 305/350?

thanks. thats my problem. ill fix it after work tomorrow. i would re wire it tonight but i live in arkansas and we been gettin 40mph winds all day.

The timing mark is in the same place you'll find it on pretty much any Olds engine.

EXCEPT the 1964 330, of course...

The problem with the 307s is the plastic timing tab, which often has left the building.
