valves stuck in heads.. need sugestions

I have a set of #6 heads im rebuilding over the winter. Have all the valve springs off, but only 3 valves came out.
Seems like the rest are rusted in.
Any ideas for taking them out.
Im gonna soak them over night with liquid wrench.

Thanks guys

go buy a can of deep creep and turn them over and fill the inside of the runners with it let it soak over night and then try it again .

i'd just whack them with a moderately heavy hammer.... don't get too carried away, you dont want to bend them but chances are a good whack will get them moving...

The valve guides might not be in great shape after the valves are out, well worth checking them out while the head is apart.

If the valves don't come out readily with the above suggestions, you might be ahead to let the shop that will do the valve job take care of it.

Usually the rust is near the valve head, where it comes into the guide, and some penetrating oil will dissolve it.
If there's any seals left, break them off, and apply @ the guide to valve stem area.
If you deceide to smack-em, make sure you put a 2x4 under each end, to avoid bending the valves!

Oh Lord, I've been through this once or twice.
Penetrating oil, WD, etc, etc.
If they are lightly rusted, you can punch them out with a hammer and a drift punch.
Sometimes another valve upside-down will work as a drift punch.
If they have heavy rust, you will have to use a high speed grinder to cut off the stems, and then pound them out with a punch. Heavy pounding will bend the stems, and they will not go any farther than the top of the guide.

If you want to run these heads, you must have the heads cleaned and magged, new guides installed, and buy new valves. Valve job time.
Call for prices.

6 out so far, havent had to pull out the big hammer yet.
Just been using a rubber mallet :-)
going to try to soak them again and see what happens... Im thinking ill have to do an over haul on these heads anyways.

Maybe move them into my shop first lol. Iv been doing all this in my living room on a sheet of plastic. Its getting cold in that shop ;-)

But bad news broke a guide or two, guess i now have to install new guides and mag the heads.

Any idea on an average cost for machining for valve guides

Sorry to bump. Didnt want to creat a new thread

At what point do i need to maching the valve seats? I see some rust. And what is a rough cost of getting this done?

After you have cleaned up the rust and installed new guides.

I spent 380 to freshen up a good set of core heads I spent 1100 on a junk set that needed a full rebuild and I went with bigger valves.
