Too much

How does this combo sound? Is this way too much for the street? What would be the appropriate compression level this type of build? It's not mine, but I'm curious what others think about this combo. If you would change anything what would it be?

.025 under rod journals for 6" Chevy rods
Forged Eagle I beam rods
Forged pistons
Pro Race balancer
Double roller chain
Edelbrock performer RPM aluminum heads

Pertronix flamethrower HEI
Edelbrock Victor single plane intake

Sounds like min to an extent minus the fancy parts . Driven to the track and back. Yours might act milder with that roller. I got a hyd. Cam.

Dump the Victor, cam is way too small and I assume the compression as well. If the RPM intake is used instead, it should make good street able power if compression is around 10 to 1.

As mentioned dump the Victor, port matched RPM would be better choice. Cut the heads to achieve at least 10.0:1.
Cam's not a good choice either, too wide lsa.
Copper - his roller is Hyd as well, just like your flat tappet.

Well noted mark but for the lift that will act pretty mild . Compared to similar spec hyd. Flat tappet. I also agree ditch the intake. The rpm is great. Next engine for me will get the holley s.d..

Actually the wider lob sep is what makes it fairly mild, no matter what the duration. And as you know, lift has little to do with drivability, idle quality and peak power. Duration, overlap and overall valve timing (lsa/icl) has a much greater influence.

Thanks guys! I was thinking about buying this engine, but I think I will move forward with a Olds 350 that I already have. I have a 350 block spec out to 355, stock crank, speed-pro pistons on stock rods and edelbrock rpm intake. I'll figure out what heads to use and get a hyd roller cam more than likely. Just need to find a machine shop to check the parts since the parts have been wrapped up for two years.
