I am struggling to see the marks both on the indicator and the flywheel. (it might be because of too many birthdays) I recall a hack back when I was 16 with some type of marker to provide some decent contrast.. The flywheel and the indicator are both painted gold. If anyone can help or offer an alternative, it will be appreciated. Engine is a 1971 350.

The trick is to mark the balancer and the indicator where you want them when the engine is off, so you can see them with the engine running. You can use a yellow crayon, chalk, paint marker, etc...

I clean the surface well w/ brake cleaner & use a bottle of white fingernail polish. The applicator works great for painting a line & lasts an extremely long time.
