timing chain and cover
NEW PICS PLEASE READ ...........THANKS YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME .....
hey guys i need some help going forward with my install ....
i just put on a new gears and chain and i can't remember how the other pieces go on can some one help with a step by step how to thanks
so timing chain is on and i have the rest in pieces all parts are there to finish just need some simple how to help please....
motor is a 350 rocket in a 72 cutlass ...

o.k guys here they are...
so i got a replacement gasket set from part source and this is what i got for the crank seal..the little blue o ring type thing ...now i can't decide which way it should go ?i can put it on but i don't want to tear everything apart if i'm wrong on orig o ring is in the pic kinda chewed up this...also please tell me if that other part in the pic is part of the timing cover assembly or is it part of the outer fan assembly please guys any help....also is the fuel wheel this that sit on the cam ..is that offset or did i install wrong???

in the pics is what i sold last summer my old dodge fury ...
so i had that empty feeling and picked this cutlass up late spring ...had to show you guys...

The cupped side of that blue seal (shown in your pic) will be toward the inside of the engine.
The dished metal object is the oil slinger, it goes inside of the timing cover, with the dish facing out. The balancer will butt up against it.
It seems from the pic, you installed the fuel pump eccentric wrong. It should be flat against the timing gear, and the bent in notch should go into the cam pin hole. It is offset to actuate the fuel pump (hence the word eccentric).
That bolt holding it looks way wrong. It should have an extended tip that will be an certain distance from the timing cover. The eccentric should not be holding the cam back in the block, that bolt should be the farthest item hanging out there. I think you should have around .020" from the bolt tip-to the front cover, with the gasket on the block.

o.k guys i'm all done ...cover is on and looks good ...
now i'll need help with all the rest of the brackets and rest of the bits and pieces , but for now i'm very happy....
