Knock knock

85 delta 88

There is aticking sound coming from the engine. Sound like it's one the driver side of the engine. When it warms up, the ticking gets quiet. It doesn't go away completely. Anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks!
And I think I might have a knock?!?! Not sure if I'm just paranoid or if I'm really hearing a knock!

Sounds like a loose exhaust manifold.

I agree with 442harv, if you can feel around the exhaust manifold quickly after start up from cold.
The knock could be a bad motor mount or trans mount.
I would check the oil, do an oil change and see if its clean.

I merged your threads and fixed your link. Its better to keep all the info in one place instead of opening multiple threads.

Man, I hate to say this but it sounds almost like a connecting rod. Was the hood up or down in the running clip?

It was from the bottom of the car. You can hear it better from the bottom of the car or if you stand back.

That is definitely a noise. However can't really make out exactly what it is from the video. What happens when you increase the rpm's, does it get louder?

When I increase rpm's, I stop hearing it but I'm pretty sure it's because of the fan and belts drown out the noise. And when I decelerate the sounds can be heard again.

The speed of the knocking sound increases when I accelerate and decreases when I decelerate. And when I put it in park, at idle it speeds up.

That would make some since. The transmission was rebuilt 2 months ago and I swear I don't remember this knocking BEFORE that. I'm still under warranty so I think I will take it up there Monday and see if they will tighten it down. And hope that fixes the knock.

I'd pickup a cheap mechanical oil pressure gauge and hook it up and see what it is cold and hot.

If you can hear the knock as the key is turned off but the engine has not stopped all movement yet, it is likely loose torque converter bolts.

Check the transmission yourself, or have someone else do it.
Im a plumber, people think plumbers rip people off....how about transmission places, im better at transmissions than 4 trans. shops here.

Also, an engine knock will get louder with time, how many miles since the trans.

I replace my egr valve and the knock isn't as loud. My dad said I should go with a straight 30w oil.

See if your egr valve is bad. You can check by removing the egr valve and compressing it by hand so that you hear air and cover the small hole that's on the part the hose goes over and if the valve doesn't stay compressed then it's most likely bad.
That's if you didn't know that already!
The new egr valve helped my knock!
