Can't run a mechanical fuel pump with e-brokes though, unless you make it happen.

As a bolt on, ABC-123.... I'd say no.

Wow, you would have thought they could have fixed that. I guess you cannot grind away some of that aluminum to clear the pump?

Because of the lower deck height of the 350. Several people run these with a electric fuel pump. Not sure if its worth it for the gain.

One of the guys on another board has a mechanical pump on his 350 with Edelbrock heads, but he did some MAJOR surgery to the head to make it work. He didn't know about the issue and just started grinding on the head and hit the water jacket.

The heads were designed for use on the 400/425/455 and with those it's not an issue, but they will bolt on and work on a 330, 350, 403. It's just the fuel pump becomes an issue and depending on the year of the block so do the head bolt holes.

Jim on here ended up welding and reshaping the entire water jacket.
There was another guy on R.O.P. that machined a spacer, and lengthened the fuel pump arm by cutting and welding it.

I think the Rocket Racing heads have a better clearance in that area, but I prefer the Edelbrocks. You have to use the Rocket Racing intake with their heads,so you only have one intake choice. All of the aftermarket heads will have the larger chambers for a 455,so you would need to mill them down to maintain the same compression. If you are starting from scratch, just put a flat-top piston in it,& less cutting,if any,on the head, depending on what compression you want to achieve.

Everybody complains about the Rocket Racing intake but it seems to work well on my combo. Just use the dyno to figure out spacers.

Yeah, I put them on my small block. Big pain in the ***. 347hp, 388 torque@5100 rpm. You decide. If i had to do it again I would put a 455 in it.

Not saying it's a bad intake. It's just the limitation of choice.

May I ask what problems you had?

Nick, I think he is referring to e-brocks, IIRC.

Definitely NOT worth the money. I looked into them for the sake of keeping my car all Olds.

Tell me this isn't sexy..... 400hp, 16mpg city / close to 28mpg hwy.

FWIW, your avatar looks like mine trying to start with half of the plugs wires pulled.
Beautiful car, not sexy to me though.

Cool , cool.

I just wish there was a MUCH bigger aftermarket for Olds.
But there isn't......and modern technology blows it away for a fraction of
the $$$ some of these guys are charging. The Muscle Car era has been reborn.

I'm taking advantage of the technology in my classics.
But I will ALLLLLWAYS appreciate the big block power legend

If you are going to brag about your ls1, do it somewhere other than an Olds site. I hate to see a perfectly good Olds bastardized with a Chevy engine. Find a friggin Chevelle to put it in!!

If you are still running a SBO,look at a future build with a DX block.Yes,you can go to a 455,but you can build a DX & get sick with it.

yeah im kinda on the fence. do i play with my small block or should i make the jump into a big block
right now i have a stock 1977 350 motor with 3A heads and a performer. getting married so im not into spending a ton of money, is it more expensive to stick with the small block and gradually build it?

Unless one has a compelling reason to use .921" lifters, a D block would be a better choice.

Put a big block in it. I have a small fortune in my small block. It runs great but in retrospect I wish I would have built a 455 instead. In fact I may anyway. I came that close to buying a short block over the winter. I already have all the new parts I need except for the intake.

But how much is what must be lowered in the cylinder head edelbrock for a compression ratio of 10: 1 with a flat piston and a cylinder head gasket 4.125 x 0.027 for engine olds 355 or 350 + 030?
