Spark Plugs and Valve Cover Gaskets

Hi,

I will be changing my sparkplus on my 72 Cutlass. It has a 350 Rocket, can you recommend the best brand to get on a budget. Do you think I would need to change my plug wires? I have seen that is the engine is stock you gap at .035 or .040. Is this correct? The engine is stock.

Also, I will be changing my valve cover gaskets, I assume I will need to put some gasket seal on these.. My assumption would be to make sure the areas are clean on the block and cover, add seal to gasket and slap it on the cover. Do i need the gasket seal on both side??

Thanks for your help, I am so excited!!!

AC plugs have worked for me. Use a cork valve cover gasket and apply some gasket cement or sealant on the valve cover side only. Make sure the surfaces are absolutely clean and the gasket mating surfaces on the valve covers are flat. Over-tightening over the years can dimple them and make sealing less effective

If you feel up to it you can get the generic cut-to-fit plug wire set, it will save you money but you must be very careful when crimping on the connectors.

Just today I bought a PermaDryPlus (VS13403T) valve cover gasket from RockAuto based on information from this link: https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...r-gaskets.html

If interested there is only 1 left at RockAuto and it's around $40 shipped
