Spark plgs

Ok 67 olds cutlass 330 engine with 4 barrel carb bought the car few weeks ago some one updated the distributor with hei prob when they redid the engine so I wanted to get new cap rotor plug wires and plugs go down the auto parts store told them all the information they had plugs in stock every thing else needs to be order wait a few days all my parts are there so I start with the plugs and what they gave me wasn't what was in the car R44 were in the car and they gave me R45s is this right can I run the R45s or do I need the R44 thanks for the help

R44's were discontinued long ago.
AC has suggested R45S as a substitute.

Ok on the R44 theres no ring on the R45 theres a ring so i am ok to run the R45

The plug in the picture looks like a R44TS (tapered seat).
The plug that ends in an "S" has an extended tip and will work fine if not better.

The TS plug is not correct.

The 45 will run a little hotter and by the look of the old plug it may be a plus. It absolutely should have the sealing ring. A tapered seat is always incorrect on that engine.

Pretty good cylinder pressure in those 330s. If the 45 runs a little too hot (detonation) you can also go a step cooler. I believe AC still make an R43S.

^ Good point,

Since switching to a hotter plug it would be a good idea to listen for detonation and pull the plugs after a few runs to read them. Remove them, keep them in order and post their pictures.
