Small block stroker kit

Small block stroker kit
Based on my current info, it looks like I'll be able to offer a SBO Stroker kit by this fall.
It will consist of a 3.875" stroke 5140 forged crankshaft, Eagle 6.125 I-beam centered rods good to 700hp. Piston choices will be numerous, going from very good to even better. Target price for this kit is $2495.00. That includes the bearings, pistons and rings as well as the rods and crank.
This stroke/Rod combination has the most available off the shelf piston choices of any combo in this stroke range. That's why the change in stroke. A 4.125 bore will yield 414ci, enough cubes to make the SBO a contender in any performance build.
All comments are welcome. Thanks gentlemen.

The SRP Professional series would most likely be the base piston. It's a lightweight 4032 forged piston with a 1.2, 1.5, 3.00 ring pack. They would come with coated skirts as well. A quality piece no doubt.

But moving forward I think the slightly shorter stroke may be more desirable because of the better off the shelf piston choices. And at 3.875 that's just about a half inch increase in stroke. That's still pretty hefty imo.

Those 4" are 4340 material, aren't they Mark? Very nice to have the two options, that 5140 crank will no doubt outlast any girdled gas 350 block. That crank, even with the Honda rod journal is still a .275" gain with better material and makes over 400 ci. What is the weight difference compared to the 330 crank?

Good to hear, the 330 crank will out live the block as is. I should weigh my 330 stoker crank but I am pretty sure it is a few pounds heavier. Awesome as always.

No not at all. The first batch are all 4.00". Should have those in about 5 weeks.

My build will have aluminum heads, fuel injection and a roller cam. But your build doesn't have to break the bank. You could easily do a carbed, flat tappet build with big block iron heads and make very respectable power. Plus you'll be able to spin it up higher than your typical big block.

Update;
5140 cranks should be here in the next 2-3 weeks. My filled and ported Procomps are having a minor reworking so hopefully, hopefully, I'll be putting something together in the fall for testing.
Compression will be approaching 11.0:1 as I'll be tuning for both 93 pump and E85. Should be interesting.

I'm going to follow along here as well, I've been wanting a nice 350 build for several years now without breaking the bank.
I'd really like a nice 350 build with 414 cubes under the Christmas tree this year.
Thanks for bringing more options to the table for us SBO guys Mark!!

Yes I will.
Actually the plan is to offer the 3.875" (414c.i. with a 4.125 bore) stroke crank with various pistons to be used with a BB head. With that combo you could easily obtain 9.75:1 with off the shelf pistons.
First batch of cranks has been delayed a bit but should still be here by the fall.
I'll keep you all posted. Thanks.

I am amazed how the mods still don't move these type threads to the high performance forum. I am even more amazed the op doesn't understand the importance after all he is a vendor. Here comes the delete my post cops. Cool that you posted the 3d drawing Mark.

I'll have a 4.00" stroke crank available on or about the first week of November. Shoot me a email at fastone01@hotmail.com and I can give you the details.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Just waiting for my intake to be finished in order to start mocking things up. It’ll be 434ci. According to Pipemax should make upwards of 600hp.
Interest on this first batch of cranks has been Lukewarm at best so I’m holding off on doing another batch right now. We’ll see if the interest level picks up once mine is done.
Thanks.

It's been a long time coming, we are very fortunate to have you on this site.
Your willingness to spend time," YOUR TIME" to benefit all us SBO guys.
The economy is at the beginning of the next BOOM !
For those of us that have been sitting on the fence wondering which way to go with our engines, you have turned the light on at the end of the tunnel for many of us.
It means many of us will be dropping in the Potent Oldsmobile Power in our SBO's that you are delivering for us
That means so much for so many of us
Cheers Mark!

Eric,
Thank you very much for the kind words. That was very very nice.
I’m a small block guy myself, go figure, even though the bulk of the builds I do are big blocks.
However I believe a 500+TQ, 450+hp small block is very doable, with the right parts. And those are the numbers most guys here hope to achieve in their builds. Imo it doesn’t HAVE to be a big block.
I’m not perfect but I try real hard to bring new parts to the Olds community. I’m blessed to have cultivated some really good relationships in the automotive parts industry. I’m just glad to be able to pass that along for all to benefit from.
Btw- in about 3-4 months there will be another announcement of new parts from a major aftermarket manufacturer, stay tuned.
Thanks again.

Dunno what all these spiffy new parts would mean in my 330 block but it sure makes for some sweet dreams of a screaming all original looking 67.

I saw "subscribing" and "Sub'n" on a couple other threads and I was to embarrassed to ask........ I finally figured out they wanted to follow that thread.
While my main interest right now are 455's and 371, I do have a 350 from a '73 Delta 88 laying around, with no car to use it.......
So, I am very much interested to see whats out there.

Ok, the order for the second batch is going in this week.
It seems most interest is in the 4.00” stroke vs the 3.875”. Biggest difference in the two potential combinations is the availability of off the shelf pistons with the 3.875” stroke, not near as many with the 4.00”. Comments?
Thanks.

In my opinion if I am going to the expense to stroke a small block I want to swing the biggest stroke crank in it that I can.
This will result in the most total CID. I would rather pay extra for custom pistons and get the additional stroke.
