Hey guys, I've got a SBO 403 engine in a hot rod that I'm building and I'm wanting to replace the pulleys on the front of the engine to dress it up some. I've got the harmonic balancer off and realized the pulley and balancer are two separate pieces but I don't see an easy way of separating the two. Any suggestions?
The pulley center bore simply fits over the raised cylindrical locating feature on the front face of the balancer. Rust builds up, causing the pulley to stick. Penetrating oil and/or judicious application of force will get them apart.
Perfect, thank you. I was beating on it with a rubber mallet to get it off but it wasn't budging. Didn't want to damage anything but I will give it a good wack with a BFH after shooting some pen oil on it. Thanks.
