Same ol' schtick...but need opinions!
Might be the same ol' schtick but trying to figure out the best motor set-up for my 69 "S". I have a 350/TH350 (1800 rpm stall) set-up with hi-way gears for now. Looking to go somewhere around 3.08 to 3.23 ratio. Motor currently has 10.25 pistons....Edelbrock Performer cam/lifters...Edelbrock timing chain and Edelbrock manifold. Some say the compression is too high for this cam (or street use period). Perhaps dropping to 9.0 or 9.5-1 would be better? Also....hearing mixed reviews on the cam. See a lot of favoritism for the Engle cams. Called Mondellos and they were ready to ship me all I wanted even though I explained im still dissecting the whole experiment (called me back like 4 times wondering when I was going to order). I guess where Im at is...leave the bottom end and re-work the top...or leave the Edelbrock package and replace the pistons? I know a lot of this could be personal preference....but any info on what combo would work best would be appreciated.
