running lean

Hello all,

How do you know if your car is running lean?
Also,What can be done to correct it?

Easiest way is to read the plugs. I think there was a thread on this site about spark plugs and someone posted a cool link to a lot of pictures of spark plugs and what they mean. Basically, if you find the plug tips to be very white and perhaps even burnt away in some places then you are running too lean. But don't get that confused with the idle mixture setting which ONLY affects rich/lean condition at idle. The jets in the carb determine if the carb is running lean or not. If you think your carb is stock and unmolested I don't think you would have a lean problem.
