Rods and Caps

I'm tearing down a 350. I've never been inside an Olds before are the caps and rods numbered? its a 77. And while I'm here, one of the main caps is being dificult, anyone have any tricks on how to remove a stuborn cap? Also how well do these blocks hold up to overheating? The guy i bought it from said it had been overheated during its last race. Should i have it checked before i put it back together? This engine is going in a strictly stock dirt track car so i need to spend the least amount possible. The engine can be claimed for only $225.00. Thanks MIKE

Definently get it checked, and get the heads magnafluxed. You dont want to go cheap, just to lose all the money you already put into it. Dont know about the rods being numbered on yours, my 69 350 wasnt.

Thanks for the help but i just discoverd that it has a few spun rod bearings. This engine will cost more than i am willing to spend to get it fixed. So i guess I'm looking for another 350 olds or a chevy 350 and tranny.
