Tony,

I pm'd you on the HAMB about your motor. I understand the guys on here wanting to keep it purist and all, and I also understand your situation too. Not going to enter into it.

I have personally thought what would I do if my motor gave up or the hydra. BUT i'm in Australia, and we didn't get olds past 1948, so there is NO motors or autos to be found. Anything I need I have to import at huge cost. I am anti chev, more a flathead man really and HEMI but I would probably have to do the same as you.

Long and short of it is, due to the lack of Olds stuff around Australia, the conversion your looking at doing has been done. While that will **** off the majority here, as I said, we don't have olds motor sitting in bone yards, I can't even buy a gasket kit or points or rotor or dizzy cap for my 55 olds here, I have to buy all of it from the US at huge prices to me.

What i'm getting at is sometimes you don't have a choice. You do. I wouldnt. BUT I am looking for anther 324 for that sole reason, so I have one under the bench just in case...

I know a guy here in Australia who has done the swap. He's Dago88 on the HAMB. Drop him a line, he did the same swap into his Olds and a 56 that I know of, so he will be able to point you in the right direction as to what to do for motor mounts etc. His names Charlie.

Good luck with it all. I would love to ability to pick up a 455 for my olds, I just hope my motor holds out!

Thanks flatoz. I'd post some pics regarding progress but i's slow. Mainly thanks to my job being cut and having to make some dramatic shifts it time and it's availability. A guy I know will be helping me a bunch stating this Friday though so maybe with a blast of good luck and warmer weather I can have her on the road again soon.
Funny thing is I hadn't worried too much about the economy til it hits me smack dab between he eyes. Good luck
