Rocket rebuild

Hi everyone, i haven't been on here for a while. I have a 350 rocket(gold) out of a 69 holiday coupe. The block(395558) is about to go to the machine shop for a cleaning/honing and a crank turn/ balance. I have a set of 7a heads and 4 barrel holly double pumper. i also have a turbo 350 trans with sift kit and the 13 bolt rearend. I am planning on getting hooker headers/ dual flowmaster exhaust. i"m looking for some help with pistons and cam/lifter. I'm not to sure which one to go with, i want to get the most horse power i can without going to crazy ie. boring out the block. Thanks

W31 forged aftermarket pistons would be stronger and give a bit more compression. Howsever, be sure the block isn't worn or it would be better to bore it and get the pistons .030" over. Don't use too big a Holley or you will get a huge bog when opening the secondaries, especially if you have street gearing. Tell us more about the 13 bolt differential, lol.

There are other options available on pistons i.e. Probe etc.

A double pumper with a 9.5:1 small block and an automatic is not normally a good combo, can you trade for a vacuum secondary?

If you want to hear the cam and make awesome midrange torque then I'd recommend an Erson TQ40.

FYI- there's an article in the newest PHR on a SBF. It can be related to any engine with similar cubic inches and head flow. They did 2 Xtreme profiles and even touted the fast ramp design and features. However it was the slower ramped Thump'r that trumped both the Xtremes. They did a similar test a couple years ago on a mild SBC, same results.

There's someone on here that's been preaching that same line of thinking especially for stock headed V-8's.... hmmm wonder who that might be?
