When removing a 350 from a '73 Delta 88, Is it best to remove hood.
Also, leave transmission on or unbolt. regards, Cus

 

Hood off is always a must in my book. The trans is up to you, but you'll make less of a mess if you leave it in the car.

 

Hood off for sure.

 

Hood off, ALWAYS. You will need THREE guys.

Transmission on or off is personal preference - I have always left the transmission in the car if it doesn't need to come out.

A note on pulling an engine from a '71-'76 B/C-body:
Be sure you have the largest engine hoist available, or use a chain fall or come-along from a roof beam (or a tree if you're below the Mason-Dixon line).
The reach required from the edge of the fender or the bumper to the center of the engine compartment is longer than most engine cranes of "normal" capacity, by just a few inches.
This will not be a problem when removing the engine, but will suddenly make your life very, very difficult when trying to reinstall it.
