I agree with you about the give and take that's inherent in wheeling and dealing, but this guy paid top dollar for stuff off the shelf that was supposed to work the first time.

Yes I agree but even in horse trading there is a certain amount of good business practice between people. Money is money anyway you put it new or used., if this guys is a good guy he will help him out . Im just explaining it could be much worse.

Lawyers are most certainly allowed in most states for small claims

 

I think the lawer fees and cost's specially the time wasted will exceed the value of the goods that are at hand. I think off the shelf cams for an olds go for 210.

 

Allowed, but neither required nor expected.
The point is that the average person can present a simple case in small claims court without resort to counsel.

The machine shop would be welcome to hire one, if they wanted to spend more than they stood to lose by just paying the refund in the first place.

Got a new cam and set of lifters ordered and on the way next week, thanks to Mark (Cutlassefi). With any luck will have er back on the road before the summer driving season ends. Thanks for everyone's support and opinions, either way you are appreciated.

 

Since the machine shop used 1967 specs for the cam I wonder if he used 1967 specs for the rest of the machine work. Or is there no difference in the rest of the specs between 1967 and 1965?

 

Glad you got the right cam coming. Just curious if the Engine Guy is going to help you out?

 

I am a little delinquent in posting an update but wanted to share what the final outcome was. The engine builder finally agreed to refund me for the cam I bought, only if I returned it to him with no damage, which I did. When I got the new custom grind Erson cam that Cutlassefi hooked me up with, I had a few problems but it was the installers fault (me).

My buddy and I installed the cam, with a few mishaps, but we got it in, timed and have about 200 miles on the new cam/motor and have now shut the car down for the winter.

Can't wait for spring!!

 

Well it all came good in the end.

I know I late to the game and I'm glad it worked out but the installer is responsible period. As was mensioned above always always always degree an cam when installing.
