rear main seal

Can anyone tell me the correct ford rear main seal to use for a 1972 gas 350 engine? I was told a Ford 460 seal will work felpro part#BS40032

I thought it was an AMC / Jeep seal I used on my 330. I will try to see if I can dig up the part number in my notes somewhere.

I can't find the part number but I did find this in an old thread.

the 460 Ford seal works on the BBO 3" mains while a Ford 292 seal (BS6141) or a 258 Jeep seal works on the 2.5" SBO mains

The factory seal is the older rope-style seal. The alternates listed here are newer neoprene lip seals, which are a better design.

After further research I found that the ford 460 seal is for BB olds and 350 diesel olds.
thanks gearheads78, looks like the 292 is the correct one for the 350. Thanks for your help.

X2 on the AMC 258 seal. Trim the ears and install off set. It is supposed to fit tighter than the 292 seal.

Does anybody know if someone makes a graphite seal like the one available for Pontiac engines? These seem to work really well.
