Radiator shroud help

My ‘50 Olds 88 has a 455 Olds engine and what certainly appears to be a stock radiator. The radiator cools the engine well as long as it is moving, so on the highway, no issues. When idling or in heavy traffic the engine will overheat. The radiator has been cleaned and rodded. I would like to install an electric fan and shroud to the radiator but all the info (dimensions) I find are different from the measurements on my radiator which measures 18” core width, approximately 24” overall height, and approximately 18” core height. I have not been able to measure the mounting hole width.

can anyone recommend an electric fan and shroud that will actually fit my radiator?

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the fan on the belt always turn? Based on this thread from a while ago it sounds like upgrading your radiator would be the better option. The engine you're running now has substantially larger displacement than what it was originally meant to handle.

I believe you are wrong, considering the engine stays cool at speed and not at extended idle means an airflow problem.

Before jumping into the electric fans, I would get the largest diameter flex a lite wide blade mechanical fan that will physically fit in there and mount it 1" from the radiator with a spacer. In addition retarded timing and lean fuel mixtures at idle can also contribute to this issue.
