power steering belt

power steering belt
How can I get the unit loose so I can get the belt back on? I just changed the water pump on the 1984 Delta 88 (thanks Oldsguy) and have everything tight except that belt. There is a bolt behind the pulley, got that one loose, and there is one behind the power steering pump but it is almost impossible to get to unless the alt ? bracket is removed and I don't even know if that is the right one. Thanks

There are two bolts behind the pulley and a nut on a stud on the backside. You need to loosen all three to get the pump to move. When tensioning the belt, you need to use a pry bar or large screwdriver between the nose of the pump (behind the pulley) and a tab that's located on the bracket. This lets you get the belt good and tight without damaging the sheet metal reservoir on the pump.

I finally got it. I was not putting enough pressure on the large screw driver I was using as a pry bar. It is all back together now. Next time I change water pump it shouldn't take so long! Thanks for the help everyone!
