However, I do believe the extra PVC valve would disguise the symptoms of poorly sealing rings. If your only consideration is to eliminate the oil blow by, then the extra PVC is a good option. If you are concerned with the amount of power you lose with poorly seating rings then I would do the leak down test. Let us know how this works out.
If poorly seated rings are the only cause then why do they make these.

I know engine builders that put these in every engine they built are they anticipating badly sealed rings on a $60,000 motor.Unfortunately I didn't know what they were for until I had this problem. My engine starts as soon as I hit the key I hardly hear the starter is that a sign of the rings being bad being bad for 6or 7 years?
What dose jmho mean?

JMHO=Just my humble opinion. There are many trains of thought on the vent tubes and most say not to do it on a street engine. They are more for redirecting oil to the back of the galley than for additional venting.

Just My Honest Opinion. JMHO. Man I am not ******* you but really, if they were necessary, why weren't they in there from the factory? I do not doubt that the extra PVC has helped your problem of oil blowing out of any gasket it can find but at the end of the day an engine should suck not blow. If it blows it is because of bad ring seal. As many have stated here a leak down test will not lie.

I never got a change to do a leakdown test, I ran into some other non Oldmsobile problems towards the end of the season last year so the Cutlass took a back seat. I'll work on doing a leak down test.

I ran a compression test and it held good number across all 8 cylinders. Not sure if that's relevant at all though.

I've seen this happen with a 360 Dodge that was in a truck. It was blowing the dipstick out. Didn't get the final answer regarding what was wrong, but I know the truck it still on the road with the same engine.

I think an engine with higher compression than it was meant to have would have more blow by.
