All new AC Delco parts are imported. I just went through this problem with my 69 wagon. If you can find New Old Replacement Stock Delco points in the foil box, those are good. I just installed Accel points, condenser, and coil in my car and so far so good, but I don't have a lot of miles on these parts yet. The previous ones (Standard Motor Products) crapped out at 2700 miles.
Man o man this is a bummer to find out that there's so many duds out there. How can such a basic part be manufactured so poorly? I always thought these things were extremely reliable.

It's been half a century since a car left the factory with points. And it actually isn't the points that are the problem, it's the condenser. When these go bad, they cause the points to pit far more quickly.
Yup, we'll see. I will say that the Accel cap and rotor I bought were extremely well made. Heavy bakelite and brass terminals like the old Delco parts. And they were black, not tan.

Which one did you pick up Joe, if you don't mind me askin? I've been looking for some good quality ignition parts recently.
Go on ebay and put in a search for the old delco’s. Or search the for sale thread on here. I bought a couple sets off somebody on this site a few years back..

They can be. The ones in my 69 are 10 years old and have 35,000 city miles on them. Car came with some receipts and some paperwork but can't find anything on the points. The previous owner had verbally told me the car received a full tuneup in 2014.

Maybe thats whats in my car. Never seen anything like it. Been driving a points ignition vehicle on and off since 1985. My ride when in day to day use will start before the key is fully turned. Idles great runs strong. Have tried to change them out a few times over the years. Both old school mechanics that Ive known for decades and are considerably older than me tell me not to touch them till I really have to. One told me point blank what's in the car is the gold standard. What I bought to replace it with is a Mickey Mouse set.
