Pinging under load??

Ok, engine pings under load when I get on the accelerator at low speed. However, there is no pinging at cruising speed when I hit the accelerator under load.

So, what do I need to adjust? Timing or the adjustable vacuum advance?

Looking for some ideas.

I would start by checking your timing. The difference between accelerating at low speed and cruising is low speed is actually putting more load on the engine.

Yup.

This is the classic symptom of timing being too far advanced.
Low speed / high load is the first place you'll hear pinging.
