OL4B Intake Question and Edelbrock covers

So I have been looking at the different intakes and I want to buy used because I am going to paint it anyway, the range of RPMs is what I am looking for and I have no problem cleaning up the runners and such. My research shows that this is the lower profile version so has a better chance of working with an HEI, and I like the vintage look... what should I be paying? He won't split up the Edelbrock valve covers and intake so I have to buy Both, I have no use for the covers. He said his bottom is $150 but I am shooting for $100-$120 for both.. Anyone use one of these or know the value of each in Canada?

Either price seems average to me. I remember buying a plain vanilla O4B about six or seven years ago for $125. You could probably re-sell the covers for at least $50 especially if you clean them up and make them spiffy. Good luck.

I saw these on kijiji as well but I'm closer to T.O. I was only interested in the valve covers though. The price isn't that bad if you're close to the seller.

I can't see the covers very well, assuming they say Edelbrock and aluminum ribbed, I payed $75 plus shipping for them. The intakes go for $100+ no problem. That intake has clearance issues with HEI, runners and distributor will need ground.

You are right about the valve covers, and I apologize if I don't understand the obvious but do you mean for them to clear I will need to shave each of them?

I don't know if that old intake will clear an HEI. I think I have read somewhere that it doesn't.

From my research the O4B will not BUT the OL4B will in some cases, some say the L on the one is for the lower height. So possibly if it is close I can do a bit of shaving, or maybe it will just work. I guess I will have to take a chance... Or maybe not do HEI

I have never tried one, one guy shaved some off both to work. My Mallory would clear with tons of room, pretty sure others like MSD would be similar.

I think I'm going to research to see what I can find about heights for the best fits, what about the stock distributor gear, I have heard I will need a different one for going to hydraulic roller cam, is it true or just a belief? I have seen some not change it.
