oil light comes on when the car stops

oil light comes on when the car stops

when I apply my brakes the oil light comes on flickering on & off

also my generator light stays on but very dim, any ideas what could cause this?

low oil?

probably a short in the dash harness

Engine could be worn out, or just low on oil, or idling too slow.

also my generator light stays on but very dim, any ideas what could cause this?
This is usually caused by a bad diode trio, or external voltage regulator, depending on the year.

This might be the problem as I did adjust the idle lower a few days ago. I will try it later, the check for faulty wiring.

You might consider getting a cheap mechanical oil pressure gauge to install in place of the switch, until you get the problem figured out. The oil light switch closes at about 6psi, so that is way too low to continue running the engine.

Hope it is one of the easy problems mentioned...
