I have a 72 cutlass supreme hardtop coupe with the 442 option. I getting an engine that only needs a carb rebuild and some lifters and a couple gaskets. I have a couple grand leftover after I get what I need done to it. What can.I do for two grand to get more hp out of that 72 350 rocket?Oh aand I need a brown console for an sutomstic.
Well it would be about 3500 4000 into the engine. Engine runs now just needs carb rebuild and lifters. Friend said a new cam new carb and intake manifold would give me some nice power improvements maybe some new valves. If I only rebuild the quadrajet and lifters the engine will be good to go. It has dual exhaust new and new springs and shocks allready. Damn solid car.

This is a Cutlass Supreme hardtop:

This is a 1972 Cutlass S hardtop with the 442 option:

As you probably know, the 442 was demoted to an option for the 1972 model year. This option package was only available on four specific Cutlass models that year, the Cutlass Holiday Coupe (2dr hardtop), the Cutlass S Sport Coupe (2dr post), the Cutlass S Holiday Coupe (2dr hardtop), and the Cutlass Supreme convertible.
To make things more interesting, while the Cutlass Supreme hardtop was not available with the 442 option, it WAS the basis for the 1972 Hurst/Olds:
Welcome. At the risk of being the bearer of bad news, if what you have is really a Cutlass Supreme hardtop, the 442 option was not factory available on that car (though many people have slapped 442 emblems on Supremes). Do you really have a Supreme with the notchback roofline or a Cutlass S with the fastback roofline?

That's great. I do need the shifter and console. And the front seats redone. Plus tlc. It's solid. No major rust problems. Engine still has a most of the gold paint job on it. Will have to have it painted with very minor body work.
That's a good price for a supreme. That car isn't a 442. The grilles are wrong, That body style was never used for the 442's. Plus 442's didn't come with the oldsmobile call outs on the deck lid.
