New Edelbrock Intake

New Edelbrock Intake
Good day everyone. Just shipped out original carb to everyday performance for rebuild and we purchased new Edelbrock Intake 3711 today. The kid is excited to start the project. Any tips and tricks from the experienced car people out there. This will be our first time taking off a major piece of the engine. Do we have to take out the distributor to remove Intake? Would love feedback throughout this process. Will post pictures soon

just curious - did you mean to purchase the E-brock 3711 (which takes an EGR) over the 2711 (no EGR)?
If you're not running an EGR I believe you'll need a block-off plate for the opening on the 3711.
Also if you haven't done so, you might want to buy the E-brock intake bolts which are made for their intake. I have the 2711 and it's a great weight-saver over the stock piece.
Ken built my Qjet as well to my motor specs and did a great job - you'll be happy
good luck with your project!

Be sure the top of the engine is clean before removing anything. Dropping crud into the engine is undesirable. Be sure both sealing surfaces are clean before reinstalling. Always use the tightening sequence at the specified torque applied incrementally. It's easy to mess up the end seals; take a lot of care. There are more than one approach to them.
