Limiting the HEI mechanical advance

Ok so I need to limit my mechanical advance on my HEI. I have around 25 base and 36 at 3000 which is OK. Problem is it gains at least 2 degrees at 4000 rpm. I have seen the brazing method, last resort. Has anyone tried the screw method in the mechanism's base to limit travel? I found it on chebby sites, should be the opposite side for us? Any thoughts? This on my Olds 403 in my signature.

The screw method does work but my Mallory ignition works better. Mark sent me the parts I needed, all is good.

Cutlassefi is Mark. The screw method basically limits the mechanical advance travel, not as fun as you think. I put the lightest pink springs in the Mallory breakerless SS distributor and used the 16 degree tuning key. 23 base, 36 total in by just over 1500 rpm! My low compression 403 can tolerate a lot of timing and my converter stalls just over that rpm. This and the rejetted carb should yield positive track times.
