Jegs Intake Manifolds
According to Jegs their manifolds will fit a 65-81 cutlass. Has anyone tried one? $195 is one hell of a deal if it fits.

I doubt jegs makes a house brand intake for an olds. That list of applications may say it fits an olds but from the product listing/info if you order that particular intake it's going to be a sbc intake. It says it fits a gmc and Buick, it will fit all those listed if you have a chevy engine.

Well, it happened.
Quite a nasty hullaballoo about it in Lansing at the time.
Folks were a bit peeved that they paid for an Olds and it came with a Ch*vy engine,
"oh, well, it's a corporate GM engine" replied GM
"Stuff your corporate GM engine" re-replied the Olds buyers.

Wow! You mean you don't remember the great Chevy-in-an-Oldsmobile lawsuit? (Yes, of COURSE there had to be lawyers involved). Some 1977 D88s got Chevy 350s. This is why every GM ad since then has had disclaimers. Note in particular these two from the 1978 and 1979 model years. Do ya think they were suddenly sensitive to it?
On the other hand, since the Jegs ad says that the intake fits "65-81" Oldsmobiles, clearly they AREN'T just addressing the factory-installed motors. Again, this is the whole "fits GM" meaning "fits Chevy" problem in the aftermarket.

There was a lot of engine mixing around. I worked at an auto parts store and we always had to ask for the VIN engine code in order to get the correct parts as the "350" in various cars could have been an Olds, Buick, or Chevy engine.
Anyone remember the 403 Trans Ams?

In 1980, I was looking for a "new" car. Lot had a 78 88 & a 77 98, both 2doors. Popped the hood on the 88 and saw the 4 bolt valve covers and spent an extra 2000 for a year older car, but it had 10 bolts on each cover.

My dad bought a 77 Delta and when I told him it had a chevy engine he went straight back to the local dealer where he bought it and made them get him another car that had an olds engine. He traded cars every two years (always drove Oldsmobiles) and always paid cash so he had some clout with the dealer.
