high volume water pump

Does anyone know where I can get a high volume water pump for a 1950 303ci?
Or,a place to build one.
Thanks, Bill

Check with Fusick, I think, they may rebuild, or have replacement ones.

I don't know of any "high volume" water pumps for that application. Those original impellers had 6 vanes. I have seen pumps with a couple more vanes than the original (8 total), but I don't know if they qualified as "high volume". The ones I saw also had the larger bearing on them. They were intended for the later stage one engines equipped with A/C. I don't know where to get them. The GM part number for the pump for 1950 is 570355. The parts book shows only one impeller, part number 555795. Similarly, it shows only one overhaul kit (which includes the impeller), part number 569953.

The suggestion of Fusick is as good as I know, They have a rebuilt pump for $209 + $85 core + shipping; and a reproduction for $119 + shipping. You could ask them about the capacities.

Probably there are people around who could rebuild your pump, if they had the replacement seal and bearing. It's not a difficult job if you have the press. Before hurricane Katrina, New Orleans had one called Quality Reconditioning. It's now extinct.
