help please so frustrated
If you had the heads off, and used a felpro head gasket to reassemble, the new gasket is thicker. It moves the heads farther away and takes away your preload. What brand of rockers did you buy and did you replace both the rocker and the stand?
Yes 2 rockers, 1 bridge/cylinder. They actually come as a kit.

Pulled the heads off to check the gasket to see if it was blow and put a new one in also I almost dropped a valve so I needed to make sure everything was kosher internally, cleaned everything and put new retainers on the valve spring and put it back together. It was good to get in there and check out the bore job and to see the condition of the heads and to make sure there was no water and such.
Ok guys Ive put the new parts on and on the number 5cylinder driver side second rocker I have to keep lossening and tighten the bolt to keep the sound away but as soon as I take my socket off it it starts chattering again it makes no since I can sit there with it running loosen the bolt retighten and it'll go away and then in 5 seconds the sounds bback it's driving me nuts it's new rocker new bridge new bolt new lifter everything is primed up plenty of oil I don't get it
When you changed the lifters, what did the old ones look like? Was that one concave on the bottom? It's quite possible you have a damaged cam lobe. The other thing you can try is take a quiet set from another cylinder and swap them to see if the noise moves.
As a down and dirty fix, you can file 1/16th inch off the bottoms of the stand that you removed originally to experiment with. You have to make sure you take the same amount off each side and it's square. If it still persists you quite possibly have a bad lifter or worse, a cam lobe that's worn.
Ok I file the part that touch's the head? How do I measure how much to file? I'm sorry I ask so many dumb questions lol this is my only car and I want to do things right the first time.
Hey when you get a chance get a good look at the cam down the lifter hole.. Turn cam all the way around look closely for something missing or excessive wear.. I had a GM engine where the factory cam started to break in small chunks at the lobes.. I could never get the rocker to stop clattering..tighten a little go away then come right back..

Not necessarily will it effect the lift.. However if the cam was not broken in properly or old cam or cheaply manufactured cam or ran low on oil it can fall apart, start to destruct in pieces causing the exact noise issue you explained...my engine ran fine in my truck but the clatter wouldn't disappear with adjustment..I may still have the cam if I find it I'll photo it and post it here..
haha i did check i jsut didnt check good enough, im learning but your right i will never forget that sound and now i can take those rockers and vlavle covers off in my sleep lol. thanks for all the help guys
well i put the lifters in like 2 weeks ago, i guess im gonna have to pull the intake again im gonna try to take some more off the stands today and then when i can afford intake gasket and a cam ill pull the intake off. man this is a bummer WHos Christine lol
