Help with no spark condition

Hey all I've got a buddy with a '69 Cutlass 350 4 barrel who is dealing with a no spark condition. He's got an HEI setup with an MSD coil He last drove the car about a month ago, and after doing R&R on the front end, he tried to start it today and got nothing. All the work he did was cosmetic, and nothing mechanical, so theoretically, all should be the same as when he started. He thought his coil was bad, so he swapped it out and still nothing.

I told him that maybe since it's been sitting so long he should check the contacts in his cap and his rotor for possible corrosion, but other than that, we're at a loss.

Any other suggestions?

Start measuring voltages.

First ensure there is 12 Volts to the BAT terminal on the distributor.

Does R&R of the front end in this case mean fenders, hood etc. we're removed and reinstalled? If yes and the car ran prior to this it is probably wiring related. Go back and recheck every electrical connection. Try running a jumper to ground necessary components.

Good luck!!!

I have had multiple HEI have pick up coils die out of the blue, suddenly no spark. Check resistance across pick up. The modules are pretty reliable, except some of the high performance ones.

He's back in action...he had some corrosion build-up on the rotor button.

Thanks for the replies.
