Having factory valve covers chrome plated

Looking to get the valve covers chrome plated on my '74 Cutlass Supreme. Building a new '68 350 for it, and thought the original '74 valve covers with "Oldsmobile" stamped in them would look nice chromed. Have any of you used a preferred place for this?

Having your valve covers done with a legit chrome plating may prove expensive, and a challenge to find a company to do it.

If you're OK with "pretty close" check out Super Chrome powder coating. It's definitely not as crisp and mirror like as chrome, but at a lower cost and better availability... it may be an option for you.

I think either Olds or the aftermarket made them in chrome at least in some limited form so maybe try searching out a pair first?

I had the valve covers on my 64 98 powder coated 20+ years ago. They looked good but it took 2 or 3 tries to get it right. The shop never cleaned them very well before coating. I could only get them so clean before delivering them to the shop.

I also had the bumpers on my 71 98 rechromed for $700 per, but that was 15 years ago.

Yes. Prices have really climbed over the years. I had the bumpers rechromed on my '66 Tempest Custom wagon in 1996 for $300 each

Was planning to have my set of embossed valve covers chromed but decided it wasn't worth it and painted them. Actually very happy with the decision, only chrome under my hood now is an old K&N 14" air cleaner that I've had on the car since 1990.

Just make sure there is no plating going to peel off on the inside.
