Getting my heads milled?!
Getting my heads milled?!
I'm in the progress of replacing the head gaskets on my '66 high compression 330 engine. As far as I know everything is stock.
I ordered the Mr. Gasket Ultra seal head gaskets with a compressed thickness of 0,038i http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MRG-5788G
Now the question is if I should mill my heads to compensate for the thicker head gaskets? And if so how much?
As always any answers will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I'd just do a 'clean-up cut' on the heads, unless you've got better than 93 octane fuel available.
Sure, you're reducing some compression, but modern fuel is junk, compared to what that motor was designed to live on.
If you're bringing the car back with you, all the better!

Okay thanks Rickman!
I can choose between 95 octane fuel and 98 octane fuel but it's the ROZ not the MOZ...
But will I feel any power difference because of the reduced compression?

I doubt that I feel a difference, too, as I've only driven the car for about 10 minutes so far
I'll let them do the clean-up cut then! Many thanks for your advice, Rickman and Mark!
