Fuel Pump Leak 1971 Cutlass 350
Fuel Pump Leak 1971 Cutlass 350
I found a leak dripping to the ground w/ the engine running. Nothing when it's off. Not at the fuel tank hose or the fitting to the carburetor. Dry there, but gas is on the seam where the pump halves seem to meet. How is this possible? Can a pump just sprout a leak in the pump itself? This explains why it took lots of cranking to start the car. I'm just wondering. Never saw this before.
I had a similar leak a few years ago. Parked the car for the summer, then when I backed it out of the garage in the fall there was a trail of gasoline from a massive leak. Fuel was leaking from the crimp and the top portion of the pump was loose. Dunno how that happened just from sitting in the garage through the blazing summer temps.
Same. Yes, It happens. I replaced mine (1971 350) last month. Extremely happy with the GMB 5308140. Purchased through Rockauto.com
