F-85 Radiator/water pump

Need to replace my 64 F-85 330 radiator. Want to replace with a 65 radiator (easier to find). Bottom radiator hose is on pass side for 65 though. Simple as getting a 65 water pump as well? Should the 65 w/pump and radiator drop right into my 64? Any thoughts/experiences much appreciated!

You got it. Get a 65-72 water pump to go with the 65 radiator and you're set. You will also thank yourself when you need to replace the water pump, and with a trip like you're planning, keeping things simple is the way to go.

Far as I know the later w/p is a direct bolt-on in place of the one-year-only 1964 water pump. You could use a 73-up, but it will not have the heater hose nipple as the heater return hose routing was changed in mid 1973.

That's good news, thanks! Any idea what I should do about the timing tab?

The '65 radiator will not work in the '64 F-85. It is much taller than the '64 rad.

Consider simply having a radiator shop replace the core using the original 64 top and bottom tanks. While they're doing that, swapping the bottom hose fitting from the left to the right is an easy thing to do. Then the 65-up pump can be used. Of course, the pump length needs to match the original. Note that changing the pump means not only changing the timing tab to a later one, but also remarking the balancer to match. I'm also not sure if the accessory brackets are all the same either. 1964 uses one-year-only brackets.

How many original rows?

How many rows were originally in the 64 radiator. My radiator only has two but it looks like a row may have been removed at some point.

Maybe a bit late on this reply but USA auto parts had them for my 64 and my friends 63. Both have been fine and good quality
