Exhaust to manifold flange bolt

Hey everyone. Can anyone tell me if the stock manifolds on my 72 Cutlass with the 350 would have bolts that thread into the manifolds where the exhaust meets or would the manifolds have studs that then would use a nut to hold the exhaust flange? I have the size as 3/8-16 just wondering if I should get a replacement stud kit or just get bolts from Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Or does it even matter? Thanks! Mike

i agree go studs and nuts.if you ever have to take it apart its lots easier to get the nuts off. olds did use shoulder bolts and springs but i think they came in later..joe could probably pinpoint the timeframe on those.

Stock was bolts, not studs.

Joe, Do you have a preference knowing that this is just a fun driver, not a restoration piece?

Bolts work fine, just put some high temp anti seize on the treads before assembly.

Plus, make sure you use plenty of PB Blaster or Kroil when disassembling the exhaust in the future.

On my cars with manifolds, I use stainless studs and nuts (with lots of anti-seize).

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. Going with the studs and anti seize.
