So this is probably a long shot but I bought an 81 cutlass was a factory diesel car but it was swapped at some point but I don’t what engines in it now all I can really see is it has Oldsmobile stamped on the front of the intake and the firing order is stamped in the back side and I thought they were usually on the front would anyone be able to help at least narrow it down off this info

The block casting number will identify the engine. The casting number is on the shelf behind the water pump for 1964 and newer blocks.
The heads have either a number (for small block engines) or a letter (for big block engines) as shown below, and the VIN derivative is stamped on the pad at the corner of the block below the #1 cylinder.
