were are you from ? I would find the best olds guy that is close to you. Work
with them to set up what you will need. Going that far into a project i would think about a ls or lx chevy type build, you can get lots of parts and update stuff for it jmo

Procharger, when you're ready I can probably help. I have a buddy who's a dealer. I've thought about it many times myself. It's an nice way to make old iron keep up with the new stuff.

But you gotta figure a budget etc. Procharger alone will cost around 3k with the accessories, plus engine mods, but again a great way to go.

Keep us posted.

Agreed.

450hp in a SBO isn't going to be cheap OR a sleeper.
Head flow is the real limiting factor in Oldsmobile engines.
It's going to sound radical and not be very streetable if its' NA.
John Lingenfelter Quote On Heads
"The worlds's best cam combined with a poor set of heads will produce an engine that's a dog. But bolt on a set of great heads even with a poor cam and that engine will still make great power."
450hp in a BBO isn't going to sound like a sleeper either.

Just to give you an idea. SBO #6 heads flow roughly 180cfm @ .600 lift IIRC.
A modern GM 2007+ L92 head on a small block flows 320cfm @ .600 lift.

You'll get ~500hp in a LY6 GM Vortec 6.0L easily with just a S15 cam swap
and some Patriot Gold springs. You will be able to drive it daily and get great
gas mileage as well. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/conver...ly-dyno-s.html

I can't vouch for the SBO or BBO builds, but $10,000 will be MORE then enough to do a 500hp modern GM engine LS platform retrofit with sequential fuel injection, easy starts, and daily driver capable street manners and great MPG to boot.

I'm doing one right now and my budget is in the range of $7,000 including the 6 speed manual transmission. $5,000 for just the engine.
