EGR System Pros/Cons

Just wondering if I would be better off running with my current EGR system or removing it,
My 75 350 in my Cutlass has been rebuilt .030" over, small dish pistons with a mild cam, #5 heads ported, dual exhaust (thornton manifolds) , rejtted carb and rods, new dist. with different springs, 160 deg stat. 17"vac at idle. 21 deg initial + 16 mech advance in by 2500 rpm.

Is their any reason I should keep the EGR system or just by-pass it
Other than getting stopped in road side inspection and getting fined for having the EGR system disabled or removed here in Ontario, Canada.
Am I sacrificing anything by the keeping the EGR system operational or would there be any difference?
Looking for advice if anyone has done this.

Thanks

Jeff

No, especially with what you have done, it will do nothing. You can just run the hose onto the intake and plug it.

Thanks for the replies.... good idea to leave the EGR in place for decoration and plug the holes in the bottom so It can't work. Leave the vac hose connected for decoration. They don't do emissions testing on on our cars.

I agree with all the above, push a 3/16 or 1/4" dowel pin into vacuum line depending on line Diameter, then plug it back into the EGR. I would also tap/plug the 2 holes in the intake as Brian mentioned.
Have you had it out for a run yet Jeff?

Yes Eric, I have had it out twice testing things out, running good so far. Playing with the mech advance springs. Still not sure I have the jets and springs where I want... Excuse to putter...Fun to drive now.
