Edelbrock metering rods & springs

Edelbrock metering rods & springs
Running a 350 with a 7111 edelbrock intake & 7112 cam (224/234).
Always had a small bog/hesitation in the 1407 edelbrock carb when easing into the pedal - did a rebuild (clean/gaskets/accel pump) and it was no better.
Recently bought a new 1407 and just swapped them - problem gone!
Stock setup on the new carb is:
Primary .110, Secondary .107; Metering Rods - .075 x .047; Step-Up Spring - orange (5" Hg).
My question for those who know:
Were my metering rod springs too heavy in the old carb?
What are you running or suggest for jets, rods & springs?

I tried to run the 1407 in a pretty hopped up 350 and baseline was way tooo big. I went 2 steps leaner and nothing still. I have used the 650 avs. which is a pain to tune, the 750 which is the same one you have and the 1405. The 1405 straight out of the box was enough to power my car well into the low 13's at 103 mph in box stock settings. The eddy carbs are a bit of a pain to tune. I know everyone say's the 1405 is too small but I think for most guys tooling around town and the occasional strip trip the 1405 is great. I went holley and never looked back. Did you mess with the pump shot setting btw on the rebuild where is it on the old carb and the new one. I would also follow the edelbrock tuning guide they take the guess work out. I would tune it on the leaner side since that carb is right where you want it to be but my question I guess would be if it's running good why mess with it.
