I'm swapping my intake from 2BBl to an edelbrock performer 3711 (with the egr) - I'm not sure exactly what plugs to close and if I need any thing else to make the swap - I have already put on the the block off plate on the EGR
I'm putting a Quad on there from a 73 with an electric choke, so I'm not sure how the throttle linkage is supposed to be set up and what I need to buy . I'd appreciate the help
As far as ports, use the old intake as a guide, block off the rest with brass pipe plugs. You probably need a new linkage grommet and possibly mod a way to mount the throttle cable bracket. You'll also need to make/buy a plate to cover the choke port. Everything else should transfer over. Not sure about the coil bracket.
For the throttle linkage either pick up on of these: 1968-73 4 Brl Throttle Cable Bracket either new or used. You should have no problem finding one if you put an ad in the parts wanted section of pick-up from Fusick.
The existing cable will probably work but if not you can get a new one from Fusick also.
One thing that might give you some problems is the throttle linkage attachment point on the qjet you have. Oldsmobile carbs have a stud that the end of the throttle cable slides over and is secured with a clip.
Inline tube sells the clips and rubber bushings that are needed: 1969-72 Oldsmobile Cutlass Throttle Cable Rebuild Kit At Carburetor 3pc
If the carb has a ball stud type attachment or non Oldsmobile setup you will have to switch to a different throttle cable or modify the carb for the Olds stud.
All good advice. The later Olds 4 barrel throttle cable bracket also works as well. Make sure you get WOT with the 2 bbl throttle cable. I used the factory style turkey tray gasket. Make sure to buy the early one, the 73 and later have different sized center exhaust crossover ports and won't seal properly. Also toss the end seals, use tall thin beads on the end rails. Also around the 4 corner water ports. I also use Aviation sealant around the other intake ports. You will need a 12 volt key on source for your choke as well.
