We had the mechanical and vacuum advance on GM cars, G and B bodies till 86 up here. The varijet FWD also were non CCC.

And yet, not a car. As for distributor testers fading away long before distributors, the fact that one obscure vehicle used one into the late 80s doesn't build a business case for retaining the capability to tune one. And let's be honest, nearly every assembly in the car had become disposable by then. Have you tried to buy starter rebuild parts from an auto parts store lately?
