Dip Stick Tube

Hello Everyone,

My dip stick tube snapped off where is goes into the block. It's a 67 Vista Cruiser 330. Does anyone have a good source of getting a stock one? Or does anyone have one they want to sell?

Thanks,
Jim

I noticed that Inline Tube sells a dip stick tube for 68-72 small blocks. Would this work in a 330?

Thanks,

Tubes and sticks are matched pairs as sometimes there are different lengths depending upon the application. Chris Witt documented the matching tubes and sticks in this parts database.

Here's what I found in my copy of the database:

I did a search on those part numbers. $165, ouch! For a dip stick tube? Maybe I'll just take a chance on the Inline Tube one for $20.

Jim, Inline Tube is pretty good at answering questions. Measure your broken tube and ask ILT the length of their tube above the block.

I just put the blue tipped one on from inline tube a few months ago as mine was snapped off in the block 2, it fits good on my 350 block.

I assume the 330 and 350 use the same diameter hole. any tricks on getting the piece out that was loft in the hole?

Many of us have been here before! Use a slid hammer with something like a wood screw on the end. It will come right out.

Another option if your not super concerned about original appearance. Get a more common dip stick and tube for a 350 engine. Change the oil and be sure the filter is full, then once it settles pull the dip stick. Scribe the dipstick at that level. Functions just as well as the original reproduction.

Jim
As 2blu said, put in a tight-fitting wood screw or lag bolt. Use a slide-hammer puller to extract the stump.

Tubes are the same diameter. If you're concerned about original look, be sure to check the length of your new tube versus your old tube. If you put in the wrong length, your indicator will read high or low and you will not know it.

Yep, same diameter hole for the 260-455 engines.

Supercars Unlimited offers a bunch of different model year dipstick and tubes. They fit very tight in the block.
